Unlike Free Agent, Outlook Express and Netscape News don't display all the newsgroups available to you as soon as you start the program. They're set to display only recently-viewed or subscribed groups (see Subscribing and Unsubscribing to Newsgroups). You can set Netscape to display all newsgroups. Each newsgroup is devoted to a different topic of discussion, so viewing more of them means you'll probably find a newsgroup interesting to you.
Netscape News automatically shows only subscribed newsgroups each time you start it. If you choose to display all newsgroups, you can switch back to viewing only subscribed groups without having to restart Netscape News.
