This movie seems to be associated with fond memories for many. Here's the really nice email sent to me as a result of the Forbidden Planet section of my web site. I've taken out the last names and email addresses of the senders. I was really impressed with the movie and especially with Robby The Robot. I insisted on a Robby The Robot toy for Christmas that year and got one! I wonder what that would be wort today? When I was a teenager I recorded the sound on a tape recorder because the sound was so wild. Later of course I recorded the movie on video casette. Not only were the special effects great, but the story is one of the best I have come accross in science fiction. How did you get the information on the backgroung paintings(they are so realistic) I didn't realize they were paintings for a long time. I use the movie as an insomnia tape to this day. So I have watched(zzz) the movie countless times. The reason I looked this up on the internet tonight is I saw something on TV about lost in space and they had Robby in the picture. Just caught the last bit of it so I don't know where they were shooting the story. Well when you dress like J.J. Adams remember "You don't need brains, just a good loud voice". Any more info on F.P. let me know. I thought I was the only person who recognized the true genius that went into creating a story that was technically way ahead of its time. I think that I have seen this picture over 100 times and I never get tired of it, as I feel that I learn something new every time I see. I read the book when I was in High School and it has been a source of enjoyment for so many years. I would be "very afraid" to see a remake made as I feel that it is very unique as it was produced in a time that the genre was not looked at as viable for anything else but Drive Inns. I understand that the Disney people had a lot to do with the Production. It was quality in an age of garbage. If you think of all the other Sci/Fi junk out there at the time. Hideous Sun Demon, Leach Woman etc. Forbidden Planet truely was a diamond in the ruff. Chris Audio suggestions: "When do we get a DC fix, Jerry?" "Robby, where have you been? I've beamed and beamed!" "Yes, Morbius a simple Blaster." (Did I hear contempt in his voice?) "No! Me Too, Sir. Will serve 20 extra watches. I'll have less dreaming aboard this ship!" "It's still coming!" "The blasted thing's invisible!" "Simple alcohol molecules with traces of fuscial oil. Would 50 gallons be sufficient?" *********************************************************** *************************************************** Date: Mon, 08 Sep 1997 22:06:44 -0700 From: SEAN To: prism@sound.net Subject: ROBBIE THE ROBOT DEER SIR, I AM LOOKING FOR A SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM OF "ROBBIE THE ROBOT" FROM THE MOVIE " THE FORBIDDEN PLANET".
